Ruth walks for Macmillan

On Saturday 7th September 2019, our ALS colleague, Ruth, completed the Thames Path Walk – 22km (approx. 14 miles) – in memory of Tim Pepin.

Ruth tells us:   “It was a slightly overcast day, but neither too hot, nor too cold, an ideal day for walking. As we walked along a section of the Thames towards Runnymede, there were Mute Swans elegantly lining the sides of the river bank. Having never explored Surrey before I found the houses to be very twee and almost surreal with their envious views of the river.  The last 2-3 miles of the walk was a struggle with sore thighs and feet, however, my walking companion supplied me with encouraging talk and bananas that brought us to the finish line and a welcome glass of champagne and a hot meal.”

In total I managed to raise £170, whilst my companion was able to raise much more for Macmillan, and in memory of our well liked ALS colleague Tim Pepin. Well done Ruth!
